What is this treatment?
As the first private organisation in Türkiye to provide hyperbaric oxygen therapy, we opened our foot health unit to share the experience and knowledge we have built up in our field and to make it available to more people.
For more than 15 years, tens of thousands of patients with chronic (non-healing) wounds have been treated at our hyperbaric oxygen therapy centres, including regular dressings and follow-up checks after healing.
Out of a sense of social responsibility, our hyperbaric oxygen therapy centre places strong emphasis on preventive medicine, and the foot health unit is a natural extension of this. Our medical team specialises in diabetic foot and wound care and includes an experienced general surgeon, a hyperbaric medicine and wound care specialist, a podiatry nurse and support staff. Having treated tens of thousands of patients with diabetic foot problems, we have gained particular experience in treating diabetic wounds and have seen that these patients need specialised foot care. Patients treated at our centres for a wound must have regular foot care and medical check-ups after their treatment.
Who is it for?
In people with diabetes, narrowed blood vessels in the feet and legs, damaged nerves and reduced sense of touch mean that injuries can go unnoticed. By the time they are noticed, they are harder to treat. That is why regular foot care is a key part of preventive healthcare.
We follow up patients treated at our centre for chronic wounds after they have healed, and we advise patients and their families on foot hygiene, choosing suitable shoes and daily foot checks.

How does the treatment work?
- 1
Diabetic foot care
Foot care is one of the most important things for people with diabetes to look after, so their feet need special attention. Narrowing of the blood vessels in the feet and legs and similar circulation problems are important in these patients. In untreated or poorly controlled diabetes, the nerves in the legs and feet stop working properly, and the sense of pain, temperature and touch can be reduced. As a result, injuries are not felt or noticed, infection can set in, and by the time the problem is noticed it is difficult to treat. We provide foot care for people with diabetes using medical devices, without any surgical intervention, and give advice on which foot care products to use and what to watch out for.
- 2
Cracked heel treatment
Cracks in the skin matter because germs can enter the body through them, and exposed nerve endings can make the area sensitive. First, we remove the hard skin (callus) in the area, then use a special foot cream to prevent further cracks and fissures.
- 3
Ingrown toenail treatment
To save ingrown toenails without removing them, and to prevent them from becoming ingrown again, our unit treats patients with a nail brace. The method uses two very fine spring steel wires with small hooks at their ends, joined by a ring. The method is painless and places no restrictions on your daily life.
- 4
Thickened and fungal nail treatment
Using specialised devices, we painlessly thin the thickened, fungus-affected layer of the nail and coat the healthy nail tissue with a special gel. With treatments repeated at regular intervals, the nail fungus is cleared as the healthy nail grows out.
- 5
Deformed nail treatment
We restore a natural appearance to nails that have lost their natural shape after a knock, an injury or for other reasons.
- 6
Corn and callus treatment
Treating corns starts with removing the friction and pressure that cause them. Our doctors who specialise in foot health supervise the treatment of corns, which helps to stop them coming back.
- 7
Orthoses
Deformities caused by problems with toe alignment or the way you put weight on your foot are relieved with supports made specifically for your foot, easing the pain and tenderness these problems cause.
Frequently asked questions
What is hyperbaric oxygen therapy?
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is an evidence-based medical treatment. You breathe pure oxygen (O2), either continuously or at intervals, inside a hyperbaric chamber (pressure chamber) where the pressure is higher than the normal atmospheric pressure around us.
By raising oxygen levels in the blood and tissues, this treatment achieves good results in many conditions.
In which situations is hyperbaric oxygen therapy used?
The main effects of HBOT on the body work in two ways.
The first is a mechanical effect caused by the increase in pressure. The second comes from the rise in oxygen levels in the blood and tissues.
HBOT also reduces swelling (oedema) and increases the production of many substances involved in wound healing. It supports the cells that help defend the body and stops some bacteria from multiplying.
Which conditions is hyperbaric oxygen therapy mainly used for?
- Decompression sickness (the bends)
- Carbon monoxide poisoning (for example from a faulty stove)
- Sudden hearing loss
- Sudden vision loss
- Gas gangrene
- Anoxic encephalopathy (brain injury caused by a lack of oxygen, for various reasons)
- Avascular necrosis (death of bone tissue)
- Bone infections
- Chronic (non-healing) wounds
- Diabetic foot infections
- Wounds caused by blocked blood vessels
- Burns
- Compromised skin grafts and flaps (tissue patches)
- Wounds caused by radiotherapy (radiation treatment)
- Crush and avulsion injuries from accidents
In addition to all these conditions, hyperbaric oxygen therapy is an effective treatment for wounds and tissue loss after cosmetic Botox and filler injections, surgery and hair transplant procedures.
Sudden hearing loss
Sudden hearing loss (sudden sensorineural hearing loss) is hearing loss of 30 dB or more across at least three consecutive frequencies on an audiogram (hearing test), developing over less than three days.
The exact cause is not known. Possible causes that have been suggested include problems with the blood vessels and circulation, infections and immune system disorders.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is thought to improve hearing that has been damaged by ischaemia (reduced blood supply) by increasing oxygen in the inner ear. HBOT also aims to improve the metabolism of the inner ear by reducing inflammation and swelling (oedema) and suppressing autoimmune damage. The goal is to prevent permanent damage to the inner ear.
Good results have been shown in patients who start treatment within the first month after sudden hearing loss.
The earlier treatment starts, the better the chance of success.
